#SpeakUp small grants 2018-19 - Flower Estate Family Action
Flower Estate Action is a small registered charity based on the Flower Estate in North Sheffield. They used their #SpeakUp Grant to support local people to have their say regarding primary care and dentists.
Our #SpeakUp small grants scheme awards funding to local community, voluntary, or not-for-profit groups, enabling them to engage with their communities about what matters to them.
Recommendations from the report
Flower Estate Family Action made many recommendations to be considered by primary care services, including:
GP services
- Longer opening hours for GPs to accommodate people who work
- Advice on what can be purchased over the counter, rather than with prescription charges
Hospital services
- Longer appointment times to allow for discussion
- More Support Staff at A&E to help with mobility problems, disruptive visitors and cleanliness
Dental services
- Increased availability of local dentists
- More standardised dental pricing
Pharmacy services
- More efficient system for repeat prescriptions
- Keep exemption information on the system
